Thomas (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve, the team announced Thursday.
Just a day after head coach Todd Bowles originally said that Thomas would miss "at least a couple weeks" with a torn labrum, Thomas was placed on injured reserve, so the timetable for his return is still up in the air. Sheldon Richardson and Jarvis Jenkins will likely see an increase in snaps with Thomas out. Jeremy Ross was signed Thursday to the team's open roster spot.
Thomas (shoulder) underwent an MRI on Monday, Ralph Vacchiano of SNY.tv reports.
Look for a timetable for the injury to be released later in the week as the specifics of the injury are still unknown. The rookie is playing behind veteran Muhammad Wilkerson, giving him limited chances to take the field regardless of his health status.
Thomas (shoulder) is questionable to return to Sunday's action, Seth Walder of the New York Daily News reports.
Little is known regarding the severity of Thomas' injury, but his status for Week 4 will likely become clearer as next week progresses.
