Franks wants rebound year: According to the team web site, Jets TE Bubba Franks has a lot to prove this year. He got hurt in 2008 and felt he couldn't do much to help the team. "I got hurt pretty early, so I was kind of like a fan. I had to sit back and watch," Franks said. "I disliked sitting on the sideline or even standing. It's something I really never had to do. Then all of a sudden you're on the sideline pretty much watching the rest of the games. That just didn't sit well with me. So I'm back here for unfinished business. I've got work to do . I've got a lot of things I need to prove."

Fantasy Analysis

Last year, Franks only had six catches for 47 yards, which were both career lows. He had no touchdown catches in a season for only the second time. Now, Franks is also battling a knee injury, which should be OK by training camp, but it's worth keeping an eye on. He also will lose playing time to Dustin Keller, who is the No. 1 TE for the Jets. The safe bet is to ignore Franks in all leagues.

TE Bubba Franks is back with the Jets after he was plagued by injury and ineffectiveness in 2008. Franks had only six receptions in eight games last season, and none after Sept. 28. It's not surprising that he's back -- the Jets still are short at the position, with nothing but undrafted free agents currently backing up receiving specialist Dustin Keller, whose blocking has been questioned. General manager Mike Tannenbaum telegraphed this move after the Jets made their three picks in the 2009 NFL Draft. The Jets didn't select a tight end, and Tannenbaum said then, "I don't think the book is totally closed" on re-signing Franks. 51/4/2009
