DL Darren Howard was the sack leader on one of the league's top defenses last season. But the 32-year-old defensive end is flying mostly under the radar as he prepares for his 10th NFL season. The Eagles had great expectations for Howard when they signed him as a free agent after the 2005 season. In Howard and Jevon Kearse, they felt they had a lethal pair of edge-rushers. But both were major disappointments. Howard, though found a niche as an inside pass rusher on obvious passing downs. He has the size to hold up inside but could be used mostly in the nickel package again this season if the Eagles can successfully rotate eight or nine linemen as they did in 2008. "It's all about how you approach things," Howard said. "In this game, things happen and it doesn't always work out the way you plan on them working. But you have to adjust and roll with the punches. They're not going to adjust to you, especially in an organization that has had this kind of success. You have to find your niche. I knew I was going to play inside and I wanted to make the most of it." 61/8/2009
