Dannell Ellerbe (hip) didn't practice Thursday, the New Orleans Saints ' official site reports.
After tallying just one tackle in his season debut in Week 4, Ellerbe has been a machine over the last three games, accruing 27 tackles (26 solo), one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. Expect the Saints to touch on his Week 8 availability in advance of the weekend.
New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan made two tackles, both of which were sacks of quarterback Andrew Luck , in the Sunday win against the Indianapolis Colts .
Jordan recorded three sacks last week, and he hit Luck four total times in Week 7, narrowly missing notching another hat trick. Not all offensive lines will be as porous as those in Week 6 and 7 opponents Atlanta and Indianapolis, but his recent string of success is proof that the front office made the right choice in giving Jordan a big extension this offseason.
New Orleans Saints free safety Jairus Byrd (knee) is active for Sunday game against the Indianapolis Colts .
After missing the first three games while recovering from knee surgery, Byrd has been back on the field for three straight contests without much complication. Even so, he's recorded just 10 stops over those three games, which will keep him off the Individual Defensive Player radar until he draws closer to providing double-digit tackle counts on a weekly basis.
Keenan Lewis (hip) has been ruled out for Sunday's game in Indianapolis.
Lewis seemingly returned from his early-September hip surgery too soon, as he barely saw the field in his three appearances. Even with Delvin Breaux stepping up as the top cornerback, Lewis might eventually have a starting job, if he can get actually get healthy.
New Orleans Saints defensive tackle Tyeler Davison made four tackles (two solo) and a sack in Sunday's win against the Dallas Cowboys . With the mid-week trade of Akiem Hicks to New England, the rookie Davison saw 33 of the Saints' 61 offensive snaps (54 percent), according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. The sack was the first of his career.
Fellow rookie Bobby Richardson drew the start in the first week without Hicks in the lineup, and both he and Davison could have some value in deeper individual defensive player leagues.
