Chargers sign Brandon Flowers
by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer

Cornerback Brandon Flowers has agreed to terms with the Chargers, reports CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora.

Flowers visited the Chargers last week and drew interest from numerous teams after he was released by the Chiefs earlier this month. Flowers, originally selected by Kansas City in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft, made his first Pro Bowl last season but the Chiefs let him go in part because he of his $10.5 million salary-cap hit in 2014.

Flowers, 28, provides the Chargers with much-needed depth. The team reportedly signed him to a one-year deal, which is a low-cost move for them while allowing Flowers to prove he is worth another long-term, big-money contract next offseason.

Chargers draft Jason Verrett at No. 25
by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer

With the No. 25 pick in the NFL Draft, the Chargers selected cornerback Jason Verrett from TCU.

Verrett is 5-foot-10, 189 pounds. He was the co-Defensive Player of the Year in 2013, and he finished his collegiate career with nine interceptions.

Verrett has the chance to start right away for the Chargers, but he is most likely a slot corner. This was a need position for the Chargers, and he should help the Chargers DST in 2014.
