Saints' P.J. Williams: Cleared from concussion
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Williams has been fully cleared for the start of the Saints' offseason workout program, Herbie Teope of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Williams' problems with a concussion saw him placed on injured reserve after playing just two games last season. After that extended period of rest, the 23-year-old has thankfully ridded himself of any symptoms, thus clearing him to rejoin his teammates to start this offseason. As it stands, Williams is projected to start at cornerback for the Saints, but it'd be shocking if the team didn't add competition at the position before training camp kicks off.

Williams is under the league's concussion protocol after taking a serious hit to the head during Sunday's loss to the Giants, which eventually landed him in the hospital. Sterling Moore and B.W. Webb figure to see an increase in reps at cornerback with Williams out for an extended period of time. The Saints signed offensive tackle Tony Hills to fill their open roster spot.

Saints' P.J. Williams: Out for rest of Sunday's game
by RotoWire Staff | Special to

Williams will not return to Sunday's game after suffering a head injury.

Williams reportedly suffered a concussion while making a tackle in the first quarter, which stopped the game for several minutes while he was tended to by medical personnel. He's now in the hospital receiving care. With fellow cornerback Delvin Breaux also out after breaking his fibula in Week 1, the Saints will now likely turn to Ken Crawley and De'Vante Harris to assume starting cornerback duties.

Saints' P.J. Williams: Expected to start at cornerback
by RotoWire Staff | Special to

With the release of Keenan Lewis, Williams is the favorite to start at cornerback opposite Delvin Breaux, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Williams had impressed during training camp, and though he got burned for a long touchdown by Will Fuller in the Saints' second preseason game against the Texans, he later made up for it with an end-zone interception on Texans QB Brock Osweiler. With respect growing around the league for Breaux, Williams should be targeted plenty this season, offering him plenty of opportunities to make plays and making him a sneaky late-round option in IDP leagues.

Saints' P.J. Williams: Competing for nickel spot
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Williams (hamstring) is competing for snaps at the nickel position in OTAs, Joel Erickson of the New Orleans Advocate reports.

Williams lost his entire rookie season after suffering a torn hamstring during training camp last year. Now that he's healthy, the 2015 third rounder will have the chance to show why he was taken so high in the draft. Keenan Lewis (hip) and Delvin Breaux look to have the starting cornerback positions locked down, so Williams will compete with Damian Swann and Kyle Wilson for the nickel role, playing primarily in passing situations. Along with the third corner slot, Williams will likely be one of the team's primary backups, seeing extra time in the event of any injuries to the secondary during the season.
