Johnson wasn't a big part of the offense, as the first-team receivers didn't get many passes thrown their way (Stefon Diggs also had one target). Johnson still appears to be the No. 2 wide receiver, as Laquon Treadwell failed to catch any of his four targets. However, the battle for the No. 2 and No. 3 receiver roles could carry through the early part of the season. Still, it's time to take Johnson seriously, as he'll have a starting job when the regular season begins.
Johnson's positive momentum continues as he drew raves in spring practices, has had a strong training camp and had a big play with an impressive double move to get wide open deep. Johnson appeared as a starting wide receiver ahead of Laquon Treadwell on Minnesota's initial depth chart of the preseason. It's possible he may keep the job longer than many expect if his performances this summer return him to his 2014 form.
Johnson emerged in the second half of 2014 with 25 receptions on 46 targets for 415 yards and two touchdowns across the final seven games. However, he struggled last season with injuries and went without a catch after Week 9. Nonetheless, he drew rave reviews in spring practices and has been working with the first-team offense in training camp. It's possible Johnson could get increased playing time early in the season, return to his 2014 form, and stay in the mix.

With Stefon Diggs likely to enter training camp as the No. 1 receiver and Jarius Wright expected to retain the slot receive role, Johnson may continue to be relegated in the offense if Treadwell wins the No. 2 receiver role. Johnson emerged in the second half of the 2014 campaign, accruing 25 receptions on 46 targets for 415 yards and two touchdowns across the final seven games, but struggled last season with injuries, was phased out of the offense, and went without a catch after Week 9. The drafting of Treadwell will likely push Johnson towards a minimal role again in 2016.
