  • Dolphins' Robert Jones: Could miss time

    Jones will not require surgery, but, "it will take a little bit of time" for him to return from the knee injury he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs, according to head coach Mike McDaniel, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Jones could benefit from the team's Week 10 bye, but it's unclear how likely he could return for Week 11 against the Raiders. Liam Eichenberg stepped in for the 24-year old Sunday, and would likely do so again if Jones does miss any time.

He started seven games at right guard last season and could reclaim that role from Robert Hunt if Jones, who is listed as questionable, suits up Sunday against the Panthers.

Jones is now one step closer to returning to the field after suffering a sprained MCL during the preseason.     Jones' agent Drew Rosenhaus noted Tuesday that he expects his client, who is recovering from an MCL sprain, to be back in 4-to-6 weeks, Josh Moser of WSVN-TV reports. Jones was placed on injured reserve Wednesday after he sustained a sprained MCL during the Dolphins' preseason game against the Texans on Aug. 19. Jones was set to assume the starting right guard spot for 2023 after starting in seven games last season. 2020 second-round pick Robert Hunt will take over for Jones at right guard for at least the first four games of the campaign.

    Jones sustained a sprained MCL during Saturday's preseason game against the Texans and is expected to miss four to six weeks but isn't expected to undergo surgery, Josh Moser of WSVN reports. Jones was competing for a starting job on the Dolphins' offensive line during training camp and the preseason. However, he'll likely be forced to miss the start of the regular season after receiving his diagnosis. Robert Hunt likely will serve as Miami's starting right guard to begin the 2023 campaign.

    Jones suffered a leg injury in Saturday's preseason game against the Texans, Adam H. Beasley of ProFootballNetwork.com reports. Entering his third season, Jones walked gingerly off the field against Houston before eventually being escorted to the locker room. The former undrafted free agent out of Middle Tennessee State appeared in 16 games last season, making seven starts.
