The Colts activated Muhammad from the reserve-suspended list Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Muhammad was suspended six games on Dec. 6 for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs and did not play a snap in 2023. He last played in 2022 for the Bears, when he accumulated 29 tackles (15 solo), including one sack, and one forced fumble over 16 games.... See More ... See Less

Al-Quadin Muhammad: Handed down suspension
Muhammad was suspended for six games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances Wednesday, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports. Muhammad has yet to play for the Colts this season and has remained on the team's practice squad since training camp came to a close. Barring a successful appeal, this suspension will essentially end the 28-year-old's season early, unless Indianapolis advances beyond the wild-card round of the playoffs.... See More ... See Less -
Colts' Al-Quadin Muhammad: Signs with Indianapolis
Muhammad and the Colts agreed on a one-year contract Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Muhammad will return to Indianapolis after spending one season with the Bears following a four-year stint with the Colts. The defensive end appeared in 16 games with Chicago in 2022, recording 29 tackles, including a sack, while also forcing a fumble. The 28-year-old will likely compete for a reserve role behind Kwity Paye and Dayo Odeyingbo on the Colts' defensive line this year.... See More ... See Less -
Bears' Al-Quadin Muhammad: Disappointing season
Muhammad recorded two tackles in the Bears' 29-13 loss to the Vikings in Week 18 and ended the season with 29 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble over 17 games played. Muhammad had his least productive season since 2018 after joining the Bears in free agency. He played in an even timeshare with Trevis Gipson, and both players posted similar production so neither was able to earn a larger role. Muhammad should play in a similar role going forward, as he's under contract with the team through the 2023 season.... See More ... See Less -
Bears' Al-Quadin Muhammad: Expected to start at defensive end
Muhammad is one of four defensive ends listed on the Bears' regular-season roster, according to the team's official site. Muhammad recorded six sacks and 48 tackles with the Colts last year, and he's expected to see a similar role, as the Bears' defense will have the same scheme the veteran was used to playing in over the last four years. However, he saw a career-high 766 snaps last year, and if he rotates off the field more than he did in Indianapolis, he could see a decline in production. With excellent pass rusher Trevis Gipson on the roster, that could be the main reason Muhammad rotates more than expected.... See More ... See Less -
Colts' Al-Quadin Muhammad: Has sack in Week 2 loss
Muhammad had a sack and two total tackles in Sunday's loss to the Rams. Muhammad may have been the largest question mark on the defense for the Colts this season, as he's being counted on heavily to help replace Justin Houston and Denico Autry, who combined for 15.5 sacks last season. Muhammad has 1.5 sacks in two games, so the results are promising thus far.... See More ... See Less -
Colts' Al-Quadin Muhammad: Reserve role Sunday
Muhammad did not have a tackle, but had a QB hurry in Sunday's loss at Jacksonville. Muhammad played on 23 of the defense's 50 snaps. He had an impressive training camp and was thought to be a contender for a starting role at defensive end with Kemoko Turay still out with an ankle injury, but he had a smaller reserve role Sunday.... Colts' Al-Quadin Muhammad: Produces three sacks in 2019
Muhammad posted 28 tackles and three sacks over 16 games in 2019. Muhammad registered exactly 28 stops for a second straight season. The third-year defensive end averaged 30.5 defensive snaps per game, but his role for 2020 is to be determined. It likely depends on whether Jabaal Sheard re-ups with the Colts, but the team may bring in additional competition via free agency or the draft as well.... See More ... See Less -
Colts' Al-Quadin Muhammad: Gearing up Sunday
Muhammad (groin) is active for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. With Muhammad active for the 16th time this year, the third-year defensive end will play in every game for the first time in his career. Despite not being a starter, Muhammad stays involved on defense, as he's averaged 30.4 defensive snaps per contest. The 24-year-old has recorded 26 tackles and three sacks this season.... Colts' Al-Quadin Muhammad: Gets hurt Sunday
Muhammad suffered a stinger and is questionable to return Sunday's game against the Falcons, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports. It's unclear how the 2017 sixth-round pick suffered the injury, but it's serious enough for him to miss time. He was making his second consecutive start for the injured Jabaal Sheard, so Ben Bangou is the leading candidate to get a boost in snaps at defensive end.... See More ... See Less -
Saints' Al-Quadin Muhammad: Picked by Saints
The Saints selected Muhammad in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, 196th overall. Muhammad (6-foot-3, 253 pounds) is an edge defender who showed promise early in his Miami (FL) career before character issues derailed his college career. He was dismissed from the team for the 2016 season and didn't play elsewhere, which may have contributed to his disappointing workout numbers (4.88-second 40-yard dash).... See More ... See Less

Mike Chappell@mchappell513D agoColts won't be involved in Aug. 1 Hall of Fame Game in Canton. I thought that was strong possibility w/Class of 2024 including Dwight Freeney, Devin Hester, Julius Peppers and Steve McMichael. Last time Colts were invited (2016), poor field conditions cancelled game w/Packers.

Stephen Holder@HolderStephen4D agoWord here at NFL owners meetings is the Colts’ proposal to allow reviews of all calls — including penalties — in the final 2 mins of halves has stalled and has minimal traction. Of note: The origin of the idea stems from an Oct. loss to Cleveland when a PI call decided the game.
