The NFL has suspended Silas Redd indefinitely for a violation of the league's Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Bans of this variety are due to continued positive tests, which is evident as Redd has yet to serve a four-gamer for a similar violation due to his recovery from a torn ACL and MCL. Once healthy enough to return to the field, he'll have to bide his time and do his due diligence considering NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will be in charge of any reinstatement effort.
Silas Redd (knee) has been suspended four games for a violation of the NFL's Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.
Redd suffered a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee during the preseason, wiping away this season before it started. With Wednesday's development, he'll begin serving the four-game ban immediately.
The team waived/injured RB
To help fill the hole the injuries left at tight end, the Redskins signed Ernst Brun.
Redd suffered a torn MCL and ACL in his right knee in Friday's reseason game.
"It's very unfortunate for Silas," Gruden said. "He was having a good camp and making good progress."
Backup running back
Redd was injured on a running play in the third quarter of the team's win over the Browns, as his right leg was bent under him during a tackle. The Redskins are awaiting the results of an MRI on Redd's knee, the same one he injured during college.
