Texans GM Smith: Jadeveon Clowney could be ready for training camp
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

Texans general manager Rick Smith reiterated during his Thursday combine press conference that outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney's rehab from microfracture surgery has gone "well," and added that training camp and Week 1 are "within the normal timetable for his recovery process," per the Houston Chronicle.

Smith said that Clowney's first six weeks of rehab were really key, because he wasn't able to apply any pressure on his knee. Now that his rehab is on track, he expects Clowney to make a major impact next season.

Clowney, the No. 1 overall pick in last year's draft, played in just four games, making seven tackles, after dealing with numerous injuries. Coach Bill O'Brien refused to categorize Clowney's rookie campaign as a lost season.

Report: Texans not expected to 'break bank' on Kareem Jackson
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

On Monday, defensive back Kareem Jackson said on Sirius XM radio on Monday he'd prefer to sign with the Texans and not be tagged. However, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, the Texans don't plan on breaking the bank or using the franchise tag on the unrestricted free agent this offseason.

Jackson, who turned down a deal before the start of the 2014 season, is expected to command the most lucrative contract out of all impending Houston free agents if he hits the market. However, the Texans have not used the tag since 2008, and don't plan on doing so this offseason, per the report.

The five-year starter for the Texans totaled 57 tackles with three interceptions and nine passes defended in 2014.

Texans DST keeps on rolling in win
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com

The Texans defense dominated in Week 16, in a 25-13 win over the Ravens.

The Ravens managed just 211 yards of total offense in the game, despite running 68 plays. The Texans pass rush got home for just two sacks in the game, but they forced Joe Flacco into three interceptions anyways, as they finished the game with 18 Fantasy points, their second in a row with that total.

The Texans DST unit enters the final week of the season riding a eight-game streak with at least 10 Fantasy points, and they should have no trouble keeping it going with a matchup on the way against the Jaguars.

Texans DST keeps on rolling through tough matchup
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com

The Texans defense held up their end of the bargain in slowing down the Colts in Week 15, but it wasn't enough in a 17-10 loss.

The Texans held the high-powered Colts offense to just 278 yards, a bit improvement over the 456-yard effort the Colts managed in Week 6. The Texans came up with one huge play early, as Kendrick Lewis scored on a 27-yard interception return. They finished the game with two turnovers and two sacks.

The Texans' DST unit has been a model of consistency, scoring in double figures in Fantasy points in all but two games this season. They will look to close the season out strong, with a tough matchup against the Ravens on the way in Week 16.
