A sixth-round draft pick back in 2015, Cliett has been unable to secure a roster spot out of training camp thus far in his career and has yet to play in a regular-season game. He'll have a tough time making the Chiefs roster as well and he'd likely be nothing more than emergency depth at linebacker if he overcomes the odds.
Cliett (hamstring) has returned to practice, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Cliett suffered an injury on the first day of full contact drills and hasn't practiced in two weeks. The former safety has bulked up since being drafted in the sixth round of the 2015 draft out of South Florida and is now considered a linebacker, but needs to build up reps and get on the field for games.
Cliett was held out of practice on Thursday due to hamstring tightness, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Cliett was held out of practice for precautionary reasons, and his tightness was likely just cramps due to the heat. His first chance to return to practice will be on Friday. Cliett appears to be near the back of the Texans' linebacker corps and could just be playing for a backup and special teams role.
