Ravens WR Steve Smith says he will retire at seasons end
by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer

Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith will hang up his cleats for the last time after this season comes to an end, according to the Baltimore Sun.

The 15-year veteran, who is entering his second season in Baltimore after spending 13 years with the Panthers, will retire once this year wraps up.

"I feel like it's time," Smith said, per the Baltimore Sun. "If it's the end, I feel like it's the best place for it to end. All my chips are on the table."

Smith caught 79 passes for 1,065 yards and six touchdowns last season. He has 915 receptions for 13,262 yards and 73 touchdowns throughout his storied career.

Ravens WR Steve Smith: 'I will not be playing until I'm 40'
by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer

Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith has other things to do outside of the gridiron, and the 36-year-old has no plans on still being in pads when he's 40, per NFL.com.

Smith was asked this week if he had any desire to play into his 40s like the great Jerry Rice.

"Jerry Rice is obviously the greatest wide receiver to ever play, and I really don't have the family structure to chase 40, to be honest," Smith said. "I have got a lot of things on my to-do list that don't have anything to do with football. I'm going to take it day-by-day, but I will not be playing until I'm 40."

Smith, who's heading into his 15th NFL season, caught 79 passes for 1,065 yards and six touchdowns last season.

Ravens first-round pick Perriman could be team's No. 1 receiver
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer

With his speed and overall talent, the Ravens first-round pick Breshad Perriman stands a good chance of being the team's primary receiver this season. Head coach John Harbaugh may look to reduce the number of snaps for wide receiver Steve Smith in 2015, in order to limit the wear and tear, leaving Perriman a chance to showcase his skills.

"We got a guy with a tremendous amount of talent who’s only going to get better," assistant general manager Eric DeCosta said, according to ESPN.com. "I’m not going to say he’s 'elite' or this or that, but he’s a very talented guy. He’s motivated, he’s smart, it’s important to him, comes from a football family, and he’s on the come [up], and we’re going to get the most out of him as we can."

Smith, who turned 36 years old last week, had 79 catches in 2014, his first with the Ravens.

Ravens WR Steve Smith plans to return for 15th NFL season
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

Following Saturday's divisional playoff loss to the Patriots, Ravens veteran wide receiver Steve Smith took to social media to announce he plans to return for a 15th season in the NFL in 2015, per the team's official website.

“I've enjoyed every moment and couldn't have asked for a better fan base,” Smith wrote. “Look forward to a better season next year and watch us go WIN IT ALL.”

Smith signed a three-year contract with Baltimore in March after spending the first 13 seasons of his pro career with the Panthers, who selected him in the third round (74th overall) of the 2001 NFL draft.

Smith totaled 79 catches for 1,065 yards and six touchdowns in his first season with the Ravens. He had a touchdown in Saturday's 35-31 loss at New England.
