Drew Brees still your starting quarterback
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com

It hasn't quite been vintage Drew Brees, but the veteran's performance over the last handful of games for the Saints should be enough to alleviate Fantasy owners' concerns about his value.

Brees tossed two more touchdowns while racking up 342 yards through the air Sunday, en route to his fourth 20-plus point game in a row. Sure, in the past, 24 Fantasy points might have been a pretty ho-hum outing from Brees in a dome, but it is better than Fantasy owners' worst-case scenarios after he posted just 17 and 19 Fantasy points in the first two games of the season.

Brees has pretty clearly taken a step back this season, with 11 touchdowns to seven interceptions representing his worst ratio since 2010. Still, even a subpar Drew Brees is a starting Fantasy option, so don't let your disappointment in him cause you to overreact. Brees should be in your lineup for Week 8 against the Packers.

Drew Brees passes for 340-plus yards for third straight week
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

Saints quarterback Drew Brees hit 28 of 45 throws for 342 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 7 loss at Detroit, marking the third straight game he's passed for at least 340 yards. However, Brees threw late over the middle to wideout Marques Colston with just over three minutes left and was picked off by Lions safety Glover Quin.

With tight end Jimmy Graham hampered by a shoulder injury, Brees hooked up with deep threat Kenny Stills for a 46-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Earlier, Brees found fullback Austin Johnson for a 13-yard score.

Brees, who had a 13-yard rush, has thrown exactly two touchdowns in five straight games. He'll play the Packers in Week 8.

Drew Brees may not be such a great start
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer

Anyone who owns Drew Brees in Fantasy has been at least a little disappointed with the numbers he's delivered so far. But with an average of 314.8 yards per game and two touchdown passes in each of the last four games, he hasn't given anyone reason to consider sitting him.

But that changes in Week 7. The Saints are facing the league's toughest pass defense in Detroit, which made the Vikings' Teddy Bridgewater look hopelessly inept in Week 6 and limited the Packers' Aaron Rodgers to 162 yards in Week 3. That's just what the Lions do. They're the only team allowing fewer than 200 passing yards per game and have given up the fewest Fantasy points per game to quarterbacks by far.

And then there's the matter of Brees being without star tight end Jimmy Graham for the first time this season. Between that, the killer matchup and the fact he hasn't been knock-you-over-good, we have a recipe for something radical.

Jamey Eisenberg still ranks Brees a respectable ninth at quarterback for this week, but I lean more Dave Richard's way. I'll go ahead and say it: I'm benching Brees for Joe Flacco in one league.

Time to adjust expectations for Drew Brees?
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer

True, it didn't happen Week 3 against Minnesota or Week 4 at Dallas, but Week 5 against Tampa Bay was supposed to be different. That was when Saints quarterback Drew Brees was supposed to get back to doing all the things Drew Brees does -- you know, throwing three or four touchdown passes, single-handedly winning games for Fantasy owners, etc. The Buccaneers entered the game tied for 28th against the pass. What could go wrong?

How 'bout Brees himself? The star quarterback doubled his season total with three interceptions, and though he threw for a season-high 371 yards, he was once again limited to just two touchdowns through the air. Week after week, he has the matchup that's supposed to change everything, and week after week, he falls short.

Granted, most Fantasy owners would be thrilled to get two touchdown passes from their quarterback every week, but if you own Brees, you most likely passed up a really good running back to get him. You need him to outperform the average Fantasy quarterback, and so far, he hasn't.

The Saints are so pass-heavy that I don't see how he doesn't have better times ahead, but since you're without him in Week 6 anyway, you might want to shop him to see if you can still get first-round value for him. Doesn't mean you have to take it if you do, but particularly if you're struggling, you want to keep your options open.

Saints QB Drew Brees tosses two scores Week 5
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com

Saints quarterback Drew Brees tossed two touchdowns Week 5 against the Bucs.

Brees completed 35 of 57 passes for 371 yards and two scores. He also threw three interceptions during the contest. Brees had trouble around halftime. He threw his first pick while trying to score at the end of the half, and tossed his second on the team's first drive in the third quarter. He tossed his final interception as the club attempting to win the game in the fourth quarter. Despite Brees' shaky play, the Saints managed to drive down the field and score in overtime.

Brees is on a bye Week 6.
