DT Stroud gets extension with Bills: Marcus Stroud's fresh start in Buffalo is paying off as the veteran defensive tackle was rewarded with a two-year contract extension potentially worth $16.5 million. Stroud's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told The Associated Press on Tuesday that his client has signed an extension that includes $12 million in guaranteed money. Stroud, coming off his first season in Buffalo after being acquired in a trade with Jacksonville, had two years left on his existing contract and is signed through the 2012 season. The Bills defense finished 14th in the league last season in yards allowed, an improvement from 31st the previous year.

Fantasy Analysis

Named a Pro Bowl alternate last season, Stroud finished fourth on the Bills with 85 tackles, registered 2 1/2 sacks, recovered two fumbles and forced one fumble. It was a solid comeback by a former three-time Pro Bowl selection who had been limited by injuries the previous two years and deemed expendable by the Jaguars. The Bills gave up two draft picks - a third- and fifth-round pick in 2008 - to acquire Stroud. He's still not worth using as anything more than a one-week replacement off the waiver wire, though.

The Bills, who obtained Stroud in a trade and watched him play well under terms of his old deal with Jacksonville, have rewarded him with a two-year extension with $12 million in guaranteed money.
