Bills land RB Rhodes: Running back Dominic Rhodes agreed to a two-year contact with the Bills, giving Buffalo an established rusher while Marshawn Lynch opens next season serving a three-game suspension. The Bills needed to bolster their depth at running back after the NFL last week suspended Lynch without pay for violating the league's personal conduct policy. Rhodes spent the 2007 season with Oakland and returned to the Colts last season, sharing starting duties with Joseph Addai. In 15 games, Rhodes had 538 yards rushing, including a team-leading six touchdowns rushing. He added 302 yards receiving and three TDs receiving (better totals than Addai). "The way I always look at it is, when I get in the game, I try to give them a reason not to take me out and a reason to keep putting me back in," Rhodes said. "The first three games is definitely a plus and anything after that, I'll just, with practicing hard, playing hard, I'll just show them what I can do."

Fantasy Analysis

In Buffalo, Rhodes will aid third-year running back Fred Jackson with the rushing duties over the first three weeks of the season, then settle into another role with less work when Lynch comes back from his suspension. Make no mistake -- Rhodes spoils some of the value Jackson had entering the season and could even supplant Jackson as the guy to get as an insurance policy for Lynch in drafts this summer, especially after his re-emergence with the Colts last season. We're going to have to keep an eye on this as training camp opens and the preseason moves along. For now, consider Rhodes a middle-end reserve worth a late-round pick in drafts this summer since he could be in line for as many as 12 touches for the first three weeks of the season.
