Bryant out to prove 'haters' wrong: The Tampa Tribune reports Bucs WR Antonio Bryant, who led Tampa Bay last year with 83 catches for 1,248 yards and seven touchdowns, is ready to pick up where last season left off. Bryant had 26 receptions for 512 yards and four touchdowns in December. "I've got a lot to prove," Bryant said. "Last year was for the haters ... this year is for the doubters. When you have a year like that, you're going to get more attention. This year, it might not be about me getting the ball. If that means Antonio has to run 89 comebacks and that'll get us in the playoffs, then I'll run 89 comebacks."

Bryant also is trying to earn a new contract. He was about to test the free agent market before the Bucs slapped him with the franchise tag in February, which he signed. He will make $9.5 million this season, quite a consolation prize. "I can't do anything about that," Bryant said of his contract status. "It is what it is. I'm here, I'm at my job, I'm doing what I'm supposed to do and I'm gonna do it 110 percent." We like Bryant to play well again this year, but his QB situation will ultimately determine his value. The Bucs are going with Luke McCown, Byron Leftwich and rookie Josh Freeman in a battle to win the job, and how the winner does will determine how Bryant will do. For now, consider him a solid No. 2 Fantasy WR worth a pick around Round 5 in all leagues.

WR Antonio Bryant was surely an interested observer when the Buccaneers announced the megadeal for new tight end Kellen Winslow. Bryant was given a chance to re-start his career in Tampa Bay and led the club in receiving with 83 catches for 1,248 yards and seven touchdowns -- all career highs. By making him their franchise player, Bryant received about a $9 million raise. Of course, he would've preferred the $20.1 million in guaranteed money that Winslow received. 49//2009
