Chargers defenders chip in: Several members of San Diego's defense played well Sunday against Denver. DB Eric Weddle had 11 tackles, DB Quentin Jammer had two tackles, DB Antonio Cromartie had four tackles, LB Shaun Phillips had three tackles, LB Stephen Cooper had six tackles, DB Paul Oliver had two tackles and an interception and DL Luis Castillo had one tackle and an interception.

CB Quentin Jammer is used to being asked if he could be moved to safety to fill a void the Chargers always seem to have there. He's typically ready and willing to make the switch when asked. "I was a safety two years in college and it's actually one of my favorite positions that I've ever played, but I'm not looking to move right now,'' Jammer said. "I'm having too much fun at cornerback and all my focus is on becoming a better corner.'' 61/8/2009

Offense isn't really a problem with the Chargers. It's the defense. At least Shawne Merriman will be back, but San Diego, ranked 25th in total defense last season, must upgrade on the D-line at linebacker and in coverage, Pete Prisco says.
