Teammate: Julius Peppers 'a freak of nature'
by Larry Hartstein |

Packers defensive lineman Mike Daniels described his new teammate, 34-year-old Julius Peppers, as "a freak of nature."

“Charles Woodson played pretty well at 34," Daniels told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "Julius Peppers is by every means of the word a ‘freak of nature.’ I don’t think age is going to affect him too much. And he’s got some pretty good players lined up with him. Our front seven is very good. When you add the element of Julius Peppers to that. The sky’s the limit in my opinion.”

Peppers signed a three-year contract with the Packers and will rotate between the defensive line and linebacker.

Report: Julius Peppers now a Packer
by Marty Gitlin |

Veteran defensive end and All-Pro Julius Peppers has not left the AFC North. He has moved from the Bears to the Packers on a three-year free agent contract, sources have told USA Today.

The team has yet to confirm the acquisition, but it is believed to include $7.5 million in incentives and max out at $30 million.

The 34-year-old Peppers, who began his NFL career in 2002, has remained effective. He registered 46 tackles and 7 1/2 sacks for Chicago in 2013.

Bears release Julius Peppers at start of free agency
by Chris Towers |

The Bears tried shopping defensive end Julius Peppers in recent days, but his massive salary cap number proved to difficult to move. The team officially parted ways with the veterans and his $18.2 million cap hit Tuesday, just hours after the start of free agency.

The 34-year-old had just 7.5 sacks last season, but should have little trouble finding work, albeit at a big discount. 5.5 of his sacks came in the final seven games of the season.

The Bears are trying to trade defensive end Julius Peppers, but a deal is unlikely, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter. Peppers is scheduled to count $18.2 million against the cap in 2014 and seems headed for outright release.
