Linebacker Jarret Johnson officially retires a Raven

Veteran linebacker Jarret Johnson has officially retired from the NFL on Wednesday. Johnson signed a one-day contract with the Ravens to retire with the team he spent the majority of his career with. 

Johnson played 12 seasons in the league, nine with Baltimore and three with the Chargers. He amassed 350 tackles with 25 1/2 career sacks.

Outside linebacker Jarret Johnson will sign a one-day contract this offseason to retire as a member of the Ravens, reports the Baltimore Sun. Johnson, 33, spent the past three years with San Diego after nine seasons in Baltimore.

"I also want to thank my Baltimore family," Johnson wrote on Instagram. "Where I learned to be a pro and conduct yourself like a warrior on the field. Where I spent 9 of the best years of my life."

Jarret Johnson cut by Chargers day after he retired

A day after announcing his retirement from the NFL, Jarret Johnson was officially cut by the Chargers, according to the NFL's transaction wire. 

Johnson played 12 years in the NFL — his first nine with the Ravens and the previous three with the Chargers. He announced his retirement in an Instagram post. 

"Today I am announcing my retirement from the game I love," Johnson wrote. "I lived a dream which few can say but it's time to move on. I want to thank the Chargers organization for giving me a home these past three years. I have nothing but respect for the players, coaches, front office staff and fans that were apart of me and my families lives."

Johnson gained an iron man reputation for his durability on the football field. He holds Ravens records for consecutive games played (129) and consecutive starts (80). His career ends with a total of 506 tackles, 25.5 sacks, 23 pass deflections and three interceptions.

Chargers linebacker Jarret Johnson announced his retirement in an Instagram post on Tuesday. 

"Today I am announcing my retirement from the game I love," Johnson said in the post. "I lived a dream which few can say but it's time to move on."

Johnson spent nine years with the Ravens and the last three with the Chargers. He played 184 games, starting 127. He finished his career with 506 tackles, 25.5 sacks, 23 pass defenses and three interceptions.

Chargers list 16 players on Week 6 injury report

The Chargers listed 16 players on their final injury report leading up to Week 6 at Oakland. Running backs Donald Brown (concussion) and Ryan Mathews (knee), along with linebacker Manti Te'o (foot) and cornerback Shareece Wright (knee) were ruled out for Sunday.

Deemed questionable were the following players: wide receiver Malcom Floyd (calf), tackle D.J. Fluker (ankle), outside linebackers Jarret Johnson (back, ankle) and Cordarro Law (ankle), offensive lineman Rich Ohrnberger (back), safety Darrell Stuckey (quad) and linebacker Reggie Walker (ankle).

Wide receiver Keenan Allen (quad), outside linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu (hamstring) and Dwight Freeney (knee), inside linebacker Donald Butler (shoulder) and tight end David Johnson (knee, shoulder) were the only players ruled probable for the game.
