  • Patriot games over for Lloyd: After reports surfaced of a possible split earlier this week, the Patriots officially released veteran wide receiver Brandon Lloyd on Saturday, the team announced. Lloyd had 74 receptions for 911 yards and four touchdowns last season for New England while adding 12 catches for 102 yards and a score in two playoff games. The 31-year-old joined the Patriots as a free agent last March, his third organization in the past two seasons.

    Fantasy Analysis
    Lloyd arrived in New England last offseason with high expectations as he replaced Chad Johnson as the team's primary deep threat. He also was reunited with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who coached Lloyd in Denver, where the wideout posted his finest season in 2010 when he amassed 77 catches for 1,448 yards -- the only time he has topped 1,000 yards in his 10-year career. He will almost certainly land a spot with another club so Fantasy owners should monitor his status as he remains a helpful option in most formats.
