Samuel probable with hip injury: Eagles DB Asante Samuel should be good to go against the Giants in their Divisional Playoff game on Sunday. Samuel set an NFL record for interceptions with four when he returned for a touchdown last week with a 44-yard pick-six.

CB Asante Samuel wasn't particularly vocal last season after signing his big-bucks contract with the Eagles. But he more than made up for it in the team's offseason minicamps. Samuel's lips were constantly moving as he talked trash with offensive players and encouraged his fellow defensive players. "I'm not really a vocal guy," Samuel said. "I let my play speak for itself. What I do out there in practice is I chatter to make it a competitive environment. You see everybody's into it. They want to beat me up, beat the defense, and we want to beat (the offense)." Coach Andy Reid was happy to see Samuel become more vocal. "Before it was Donovan (McNabb) challenging everybody," he said. "And now Asante has jumped in from that (defensive) side and he is challenging back. I kind of like that. I like that competition and enthusiasm. It kind of keeps things alive." 62/5/2009
