Money won't determine Jets' starter: According to Newsday Jets coach Rex Ryan has been surprised at how well the QB competition between Kellen Clemens and rookie Mark Sanchez has been going. "Clemens and Sanchez are really battling," Ryan said Thursday. "I knew it was going to be a dogfight and right now, you can tell it really is. We probably won't know until … whenever it becomes obvious, that's when we'll make the decision. Obviously you'd prefer to have it sooner than later, but I don't think that's going to happen. Both have been really good and they challenge each other, but they're very supportive." Ryan said the money won't be a factor in his decision. Sanchez just signed a five-year deal that could be worth as much as $60 million. "I understand that with him getting the money, but the job as a coach is you've got to play the best guys and what gives you the chance to win," Ryan said.

Fantasy Analysis
This is good news for Clemens, who has looked good in workouts according to numerous reports. We still think Sanchez will win out, but it sounds like the competition could last right up until Week 1. Sanchez should be considered a No. 3 Fantasy QB with upside coming into the year. If he beats out Clemens as expected, his value could rise, but draft him with a late-round pick in seasonal leagues. He's worth a middle-round pick in keeper leagues as well as a first-round pick in rookie-only drafts. If Clemens wins the job, he would also be considered a No. 3 Fantasy QB.
