DT Jovan Haye, a former Vanderbilt star, signed with the Titans as a free agent from Tampa Bay, but says he is busy learning the Tennessee way of doing things on the defensive line. Haye has usually played the three technique (lined up between the guard and tackle), but the Titans are also asking him to play some of what is called a shade technique, lined up facing one side of the center and angled in the gap between center and guard. It's something that is entirely new for Haye. "I've never really played shade before," Haye said. "I'm just trying to get comfortable at the shade, because it's something new. But it's coming along." New technique or not, Haye says the Titans up-field attacking strategy with their defensive linemen fits well with his style. "What I like to do fits well. This is a physical defense, a physical defensive line. There's not a lot of thinking, because they don't want you to think," Haye said. 61/8/2009

Haye signed a four-year deal with the Titans on Monday in a move to help the team replace All-Pro Albert Haynesworth.
