Kerney won't face Eagles Sunday: Pro Bowl defensive end Patrick Kerney is out indefinitely and getting a second look at what's wrong with his surgically repaired shoulder. It's the latest in an epidemic of injuries for the teetering Seahawks. Coach Mike Holmgren said Friday morning on his radio show that Kerney is returning to Alabama to see Dr. James Andrews. Andrews is the surgeon who repaired torn labrum cartilage in Kerney's left shoulder after last season. The Seahawks' top pass rusher re-injured the shoulder in last weekend's win at San Francisco. Holmgren told KIRO he hoped to know when - or if - Kerney can play again this season by Tuesday.

Fantasy Analysis

Kerney had been struggling for much of the season, but this adds insult to injury. Darryl Tapp and rookie Lawrence Jackson will start at ends in Sunday's game against Philadelphia. At this point, just about every Seahawks defensive player isn't worth owning in Fantasy play. Kerney should remain reserved in all leagues while Jackson is worth a bench spot in the deepest of IDP dynasty formats.

DE Lawrence Jackson knows he can't hit the reset button and start his NFL career anew this season. Besides, the 6-foot-4, 270-pound defensive end doesn't want to. Seattle's first-round draft pick in 2008 understands he did not live up to expectations last season -- his and others -- with his rookie performance, finishing with two sacks in 16 games. Tasked with learning two positions, playing both defensive end and defensive tackle, and playing most of the season with an injured right foot, a reflective Jackson said after the final day of Seattle's veteran minicamp that he's not making any excuses. "For me, I'm done with last year," Jackson said. "I watched the film -- I still watch it and I go over it -- but last year was last year. The disappointment I felt is gone. That was year one. I take what happened, good and bad, into preparation for year two and move forward, and that's kind of my plan for things." 41/6/2009
