  • Leinart passed over for start: After a brief competition in practice, Oakland coach Dennis Allen named Terrelle Pryor the starting quarterback for Week 17 at San Diego. Pryor, who earned the nod over veteran quarterback Matt Leinart, will make his first career NFL start after Carson Palmer was ruled out earlier this week. "He'll start the game, he'll play in the game and we'll see how the game goes," Allen said about Pryor. "He gives us a unique element of athleticism at the quarterback position."

    Leinart was hoping to earn anther opportunity in order to silence his critics after starting just two games since 2007. He took over for Palmer last Sunday and completed 16 of his 32 passes for 115 yards with one interception. "I still feel I have a lot to prove at this point of my career," Leinart told reporters Thursday. "No matter what the naysayers say, I do feel like I still can play." If Pryor struggles against the Chargers, Leinart could receive some snaps, but he is hardly viewed as a reliable Fantasy option for Week 17.
