| Merriman hangs it up: Free agent linebacker Shawne Merriman announced his retirement, according to his official website Tuesday. Merriman played his last season with the Bills and combined for 17 tackles and a sack in just 10 games played. "I retire today not because I don't feel I can go out there and still play the game at a very high level," Merriman wrote, "I am retiring because I want to retire on my own terms and leave while I know I can still physically play the game." | Fantasy Analysis |
| Merriman finished his eight-year career with 258 tackles, 45.5 sacks and 10 interceptions. His days as a top Fantasy linebacker were long gone after undergoing surgery to repair a damaged posterior cruciate ligament and lateral collateral ligament in his left knee back in 2008. Since then, he only racked up six sacks in four seasons. He should obviously be ignored in all formats on Draft Day. (Updated 3/5/13). |
