QB Dan Orlovsky lost the backup job to Rex Grossman. Orlovsky, 26, was 0-8 as a starter for the Lions last year. He signed as a free agent in the offseason, getting a three-year deal that averages $3 million a year. He went to camp entrenched as the backup. Grossman is the fan favorite even though he's started only eight games (six touchdowns, nine interceptions) in the two seasons since he helped Chicago reach the Super Bowl. Orlovsky, who threw eight touchdown passes and eight interceptions at Detroit last season, had one touchdown and four turnovers, including three interceptions, in preseason. 98//2009
