Darren Sproles scores rushing TD Thursday
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

Eagles running back Darren Sproles found the end zone during Thursday's exhibition game against the Steelers.

With LeSean McCoy sidelined after the first two series, Sproles tooke over and scored a rushing touchdown from 1-yard out in the second quarter. He played the entire first half with the starters and finished the game with six carries for 33 yards and a touchdown, averaging 5.5 yards per attempt. He was targeted only four times and finished the game with one catch for 4 yards.

LeSean McCoy, Darren Sproles quiet in first preseason action
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com

The Eagles didn't really show off much of their new-look backfield in Friday's preseason opener against the Bears, as Darren Sproles and LeSean McCoy combined for just five touches.

McCoy had just one carry for no yards and one reception for 8 yards, while Sproles added three rushes for 11 yards with no catches. We will probably see more of the team's plans in the next few preseason games.

LeSean imagining the possibilities with Darren Sproles
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer

Running back LeSean McCoy is thrilled to have Darren Sproles join him on the Eagles offense this season. McCoy told The Rich Eisen Podcast that the addition of Sproles should mean huge things for how defenses play against Philly

"Sproles has the quickest feet I've ever seen out of any player," McCoy said. "He'll help us out tremendously. I think the best thing about him, what he brings to this team is not only leadership and experience, but also just another big playmaker on the team. You talk about losing DeSean (Jackson), but I think Howie (Roseman) and Chip (Kelly) did a great job of bringing another playmaker to our team. ... With me and him in the backfield together it will definitely cause an issue with the defense."

Chip Kelly excited about Darren Sproles' smarts
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

Eagles coach Chip Kelly praised Darren Sproles' preparation and said he's excited about fitting the running back into his offense.

"We heard from the coaches that coached him what an intelligent football player he is and learned that from the first day he was in this building and how sharp he is and how dedicated he is," Kelly told ESPN.com.

"I talked to Norv Turner [who coached Sproles in San Diego] and he remarked to me when I saw him at one of the pro days, he said, ‘You'll have to slow him down because he only knows one speed.’ And that's the same thing you see. Darren practices and trains at one speed. It's awesome. He fits in with the culture that we want in terms of preparation, but it's everything we wanted when we got him here."

Eagles address WR need with Jordan Matthews
by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer

The Eagles needed a receiver with DeSean Jackson gone, and they addressed the position by drafting Vanderbilt's Jordan Matthews in the second round.

Matthews will likely be No. 3 on the depth chart behind Jeremy Maclin and Riley Cooper, and he will have minimal Fantasy value in 2014. He should, however, help Nick Foles and the Eagles offense.

Matthews is a good receiver, but he's not a burner, which the Eagles will miss with Jackson gone. Still, this receiving corps is starting to look solid with Maclin, Cooper, Matthews, Zach Ertz, LeSean McCoy and Darren Sproles.

It should only help Folk, who depended heavily on Jackson last year. He's still a low-end No. 1 Fantasy quarterback, but he's a great one to wait for with a late-round pick.

As for Matthews, he's only worth a late-round flier in standard leagues, and he's a solid second-round pick in rookie-only formats.
