Ware injured his back in Saturday's game against the Chiefs. The specifics of the injury are unclear but it was enough to keep him out of Week 17, and with the Broncos eliminated from the playoffs they had no reason to keep him on the roster if he couldn't play this week. He ends his 12th season with 15 tackles, including 4.0 sacks, in 10 games played, all career lows.
Head coach Gary Kubiak indicated Monday that he expects
Kubiak is hopeful that Ware can be on the field for roughly 50 plays per game following the bye week. The veteran returned to action in Week 8 after missing the previous five games with a forearm injury. They team has exercised caution with the 34-year-old thus far as he has worked his way back into the swing of things.

Ware has been out since Week 2 with a fractured bone in his right forearm, but will finally return to action against the Chargers. His presence should trigger an immediate improvement in the Broncos' pass rush, as he had two sacks on the year prior to getting hurt.
