Williams remains a question mark: The Baltimore Sun reports WR Demetrius Williams remains part of the offensive plans this year. But the Ravens need him to prove it on the field. They need him to move past the ankle injury that has kept him out of 19 games, including playoffs, the past two seasons. "Everybody's seen glimpses of [Williams] the last two years," said Cam Cameron, the Ravens' second-year offensive coordinator. "But in reality, in my mind, we've got to be prepared to play without him." Williams had surgery in November to repair a ligament in his left ankle and remove a calcified bone that had been rubbing against his Achilles' tendon for most of the past two years. Rehabilitation has been steady, if painful. So far, the Ravens have been willing to wait. In May, coach John Harbaugh said the seven-week period between the passing camp and training camp was more critical to Williams than anyone else on the team.

Williams could make some plays for the Ravens this year if he's healthy. They need help in their receiving corps, so keep an eye on how Williams does. Still, he's not worth drafting and should only be added off the waiver wire once the season starts.

WR Demetrius Williams made two of the more impressive plays during this week's passing camp. He caught a pass on a crossing route Tuesday against man coverage and outran the secondary. Then, on Wednesday, he made a one-handed grab in the corner of the end zone. Williams has been bothered by an ankle injury the past two seasons and hasn't looked at full strength for most of this offseason. "I didn't see him coming back from plays looking like he was favoring (his injury) as much," coach John Harbaugh said. "It looks to me like he's putting that out of his mind a little bit and just playing. The thing has been close to 100 percent as far as when he runs. So, we're starting to see some of his speed come back." Williams is encouraged by his progress. "I don't know if I feel the burst coming back, but I feel the strength improving," Williams said. 52/8/2009
