Cameron: McClain is a running back: In an interview with CBSSports.com, Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron denies labeling Le'Ron McClain as a fullback and says he plans to use him as a running back, among other roles. "I'm not sure where that came from. He's a running back. That's the way I view him," Cameron said. "To me, Lorenzo Neal is a fullback, and a great one. Le'Ron, to me, and I felt like this when I saw him in college, is a potential running back. He's also a guy that can play fullback, play tailback, and actually we're going to use him a little bit at tight end this year. He's just a football player that can do multiple things. He will definitely get carries like he did last year. Probably not as many just because our pass protection unit has evolved, Joe [Flacco] has evolved, we have more tight ends this year. So he won't get the number of carries but he's going to carry the football."

Fantasy Analysis

We expect the Ravens to utilize Willis McGahee and Ray Rice a lot at running back, only going to McClain on a regular basis if one or both of their rushers get hurt. That said, McClain should still have a role as a goal-line back, and that gives him some Fantasy value. He's worth a late-round pick in drafts this summer as a reserve option. RB Le'Ron McClain has returned to being the team's starting fullback. At the Ravens' mandatory minicamp, McClain was lining up in front of tailback Ray Rice instead of taking the carries. While McClain was never the Ravens' full-time tailback last season, he led the team with 902 yards rushing -- 231 more than the second-leading rusher (Willis McGahee). But McClain made it known that he would prefer to be running instead of blocking. "With the success I had last year at halfback, I'm leaning more towards tailback," said McClain, who also scored a team-best 11 touchdowns last season. "But you know me, I'll do whatever to help the team." He then added, "I just want to continue to get better and show them that's the position (tailback) I want to play." McClain was a fourth-round pick in 2007, joining the Ravens after a solid career as a fullback at Alabama. Last season, when Willis McGahee went down with injuries, the Ravens turned to McClain to carry the ball. But it appears that the Ravens envision McClain replacing fullback Lorenzo Neal, who has signed with the Oakland Raiders. "Le'Ron isn't the player he was a year ago," offensive coordinator Cam Cameron said. "He reminds me a lot of Lorenzo Neal. In my mind, (Neal) is still here." 51/3/2009
