RB Smith (knee) out for season: The Kansas City Star reports that Chiefs running back Kolby Smith will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, according to head coach Herman Edwards. Smith was carted off the field with a sprained knee in the second quarter Week 9 against the Buccaneers. He started in place of Larry Johnson, benched for disciplinary problems. Smith had 10 carries for 46 yards and a one-yard touchdown before leaving.

With Johnson's suspension stretching into Week 10, look for the Chiefs to lean on rookie Jamaal Charles, Dantrell Savage and Jackie Battle to team up and give Kansas City a semblance of a running game. Smith is no longer worth owning in seasonal Fantasy play since he'll miss the rest of the year.

RB Kolby Smith is coming off a patella tendon injury that ended his '08 season. Smith's rehab has gone well and he's running straight ahead with some power and speed. But it's the side-to-side movement that will be the toughest and will probably have Smith beginning training camp on the PUP list. His healthy return would be a valuable addition to the running game depth. 62/5/2009
