Report: CB Robinson gets tagged: NFL Network reports that the Texans have given CB Dunta Robinson the franchise tag. As such, Robinson will be offered a one-year guaranteed deal for nearly $10 million, the average salary of the five highest-paid cornerbacks. He can still shop himself around, but if he signs with another team and the Texans don't match, the club will receive two first-round picks as compensation. That's an unlikely scenario as Robinson came off an ACL tear suffered in '07 that limited him to just 11 games in 2008. He totaled 35 tackles, six passes defensed and two interceptions in those 11 games (six starts) in '08.

Fantasy Analysis

Robinson was once considered a top NFL cornerback and could reclaim that notoriety by earning his salary in 2009. The Texans' secondary has long been a weakness, and he could help stop that. His IDP value is minimal since he's not a major tackle producer, so consider him no better than a reserve Fantasy DB worth a late-round pick in deeper drafts this summer.

CB Dunta Robinson has yet to sign his contract, which would make him the team's first franchised player. Coach Gary Kubiak is hoping that when the Texans begin two-a-day practices July 31 that Robinson and TE Owen Daniels have resolved their contract issues and reported to camp. "(Contract problems are) just part of the business," Kubiak said. "I'm not worried about Owen at all as far as my feelings about him as a player and as a person. I've never been around a better kid or a guy that works harder. "I'm counting on him to be ready to go, and the team's counting on him to be ready to go, too. I'm hoping it's July 31." 62/5/2009
