Baker flies to Philly: The Eagles signed safety Rashad Baker to a one-year contract Wednesday, adding another defensive back to a revamped secondary. He spent the last two seasons with Oakland. Baker is the second safety the Eagles have signed since losing seven-time Pro Bowl pick Brian Dawkins (Denver) and backup Sean Considine (Jacksonville) in free agency.

S Rashad Baker, who signed a one-year free agent deal with the team this week, helped Philadelphia make the playoffs last season when he was an Oakland Raider. Baker came up with a game-clinching interception in Oakland's win over the Tampa Bay Bucs on the final day of the regular-season. If the Bucs had won, they would've gone to the playoffs instead of the Eagles, who made it to the NFC Championship Game. "I didn't know the impact it had at the time," said Baker, who is from Camden, N.J., which is just across the Delaware River from Philadelphia. "After the game, I saw that Philly had won, and I started getting a lot of phone calls and texts telling me I helped the Eagles get into the playoffs." 31/2/2009
