| Megatron ready to talk deal: Lions WR Calvin Johnson told Jim Rome on Monday that he's ready to begin contract extension talks with the team this offseason instead of waiting until next offseason. Johnson is entering a contract year in 2012 and is coming off a sensational season, finishing the regular season with 96 catches for 1,681 yards and 16 touchdowns with another 211 yards and two touchdowns in one playoff game. "We're going to have some talks soon, and hopefully get things rolling," Johnson told Rome on ESPN. (Updated 01/24/2012) |

| It's becoming increasingly clear that Johnson will be a popular first-round pick in drafts this summer. He's been very good when he's been healthy and his potential to put up big stats is pretty obvious. Expect him to go anywhere from fifth to 12th overall in drafts. It'll only help if he plays without that extension in 2012 so that he works hard to earn a rich extension. (Updated 01/24/2012). |
