| RB Antonio PIttman and Kenneth Darby are vying for the top backup job behind Steven Jackson. Rams offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur said the pecking order won't necessarily be that clearly defined and could depend on situations, meaning Darby could get the call on certain series and Pittman will be the guy in other situations. "I feel like we get overlooked a lot. That's nothing but motivation for us," Darby said. "It encourages us to go out every day and prove to all the critics and the doubters that we're just as good as anybody else out there." Pittman said, "This is what you make your team out of. You want guys that are going to come out there and compete every day." As for the importance of being ready when Jackson isn't, Pittman said, "It's a very big role. Being that guy that spells Steven, it's huge for the team, just so you know that when he comes out of the game, (the offense) doesn't skip a beat." (Updated 2009611) TSX |

| September 5, 2009: Rams cut backup RBs Pittman, Ogbonnaya The St. Louis Rams placed defensive tackle Adam Carriker and defensive end Eric Moore on injured reserve Saturday and cut running back Antonio Pittman along with 18 other players to get to the mandatory 53-man roster limit. |
