Report: Six teams in the mix for Vikings RB Adrian Peterson
by Brandon Wise |

The Vikings are reportedly going to give it one more week of searching for a trade partner for running back Adrian Peterson, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

A source told the newspaper if Peterson is not traded by next week, the Vikings will keep him. Minnesota is still reportedly talking with the Cardinals, Falcons, Cowboys, Jaguars, Chargers and Buccaneers to get a possible deal done, according to the source.

Peterson was reinstated last week by the league for his suspension stemming from child-abuse charges. He is under contract with the Vikings for the next three seasons for $43.25 million, including $12.75 in 2015.

Report: Adrian Peterson not expected at Vikings workouts
by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer

Running back Adrian Peterson is not expected to attend Vikings offseason workouts, which begin Monday, per the St. Paul Pioneer-Press

Peterson, who was suspended without pay last November for violating the NFL Personal Conduct Policy through physical abuse of his four-year-old son, has made no secret that he wishes to leave the Vikings, although the team has stated they expect Peterson to be on the roster at the start of the year.

Peterson's absence from offseason workouts doesn't signal any movement in either direction, as Peterson rarely attends the team's conditioning programs. His workout bonus pertains only to his participation in team OTAs and minicamp.

Report: Raiders among teams interested in RB Peterson
by Marty Gitlin |

Star Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, who was reinstated by the NFL on Thursday after serving out a suspension for abusing his four-year-old son, could wind up in Oakland via trade, according to Bleacher Report.

Citing comments from two general managers, Bleacher Report is claiming that Dallas is the frontrunner to land Peterson, but that the Cardinals and Raiders are also possibilities. One GM, however, added that Peterson's $12.75 million salary is "an anchor around [his] neck. Few teams will be willing to take him, at his age, with that salary."

The 30-year-old Peterson had shown little sign of slowing down before the suspension. He managed his sixth 1,000-yard season and seventh straight 10-touchdown campaign in 2013.

NFL reinstates Adrian Peterson effective Friday
by Marty Gitlin |

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has been reinstated by the NFL effective Friday.

That news came courtesy of a letter released by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who emphasized that his return requires compliance to an "ongoing program of counseling and treatment as recommended by medical advisors." It added that any violation of the program could result in his suspension without pay or banishment from the NFL.

Peterson was suspended without pay in mid-November for violating the NFL Personal Conduct Policy through physical abuse of his four-year-old son. He pled no contest to assault charges in a Texas state court.

The perennial All-Pro has racked up 10,190 career rushing yards and posted a 5.0 YPC average. Rumors have persisted that he could be traded, though Vikings center John Sullivan recently stated that he and his teammates strongly prefer that he remains with Minnesota.

"We look forward to Adrian re-joining the Vikings," the Vikings said in a team statement.

John Sullivan: Vikings players want Adrian Peterson back
by R.J. White |

The status of Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is up in the air, and while the veteran may not have interest in returning to Minnesota, center John Sullivan made it clear Thursday's night in an interview on Sirius XM NFL Radio Thursday night that the Minnesota players want Peterson back, Pro Football Talk reports.

"We want him back. There is no doubt the players want him back," Sullivan said. "He missed an entire season. He more than paid his dues with this whole thing. I respect him as a man. I don’t want to talk too much about it just because I don’t want to put too much conjecture out there but I just hope it works itself out and he comes back and joins us. We have open arms here waiting for him. We want to rush for the 2,500 yards that he talked about a couple of years ago."

The league reportedly filed an appeal in the Peterson case Wednesday to preserve the disciplinary powers of commissioner Roger Goodell. Peterson met with Goodell Tuesday, but an official decision on his reinstatement has yet to be announced.
