Pettigrew suffered a torn ACL last December and began training camp on the team's PUP list. However, the decision to place him on this specific list may ultimately be contingent on the status of fellow TE Eric Ebron (ankle). Should Ebron be healthy enough to play from the onset of the regular season, Detroit could have added incentive to shelf Pettigrew on the PUP list through Week 6 in order to ensure the veteran's return to full health.
Pettigrew has been placed on the physically unable to perform list prior to the start of Detroit's training camp.
Pettigrew has been recovering from a ACL tear he suffered in December of last season. Though he's made steady progress, he isn't ready to practice quite yet, but he will participate with the team in all meetings during the preseason and training camp. He'll be looking to return as soon as possible to compete with Eric Ebron and Tim Wright, who'll share first team reps while Pettigrew is sidelined.

After Pettigrew sustained a torn ACL Sunday at St. Louis, the move is merely a bookkeeping measure by the Lions intended to open up a spot on the 53-man roster. The organization will use it to sign a tight end, Bear Pascoe, who is known for his blocking.
