The soon-to-be nine-year veteran, a free-agent acquisition from the Giants, saw 2.5 of his 9.5 sacks in 2015 come when he was shifted inside, a strategy that he commends his former coaches for implementing. With the addition of Spence, considered by some to be the most gifted pass rusher in the draft, Ayers can foresee opportunities at tackle in his first Bucs season as well, particularly after what he put on film last season. "I think that's something that (the Bucs) saw that I do extremely well," Ayers said of kicking inside. "And I definitely think I'm in a situation here where they're going to try to utilize me the way [
Ayers' deal reportedly includes $10.5 million guaranteed. His addition bolsters Tampa Bay's defensive front, an area of need this offseason. In 11 starts last season, Ayers registered a career-high 41 tackles and 9.5 sacks, while also forcing two fumbles along the way. He's tallied 20 quarterback takedowns overall during the last three campaigns, and his sack total from last season would have paced all Bucs defenders. The trio of Ayers, perennial Pro Bowler Gerald McCoy and the emerging Jacquies Smith should give new defensive coordinator Mike Smith some valuable options with which to get to the quarterback in 2016.

Robert Ayers (neck) is active for Monday's game in Miami.
A mid-week addition to the injury report, Ayers missed practice both Friday and Saturday, leading to a questionable designation for Monday's game. His presence is good news for the New York Giants ' middling pass-rush, but Ayers doesn't get enough snaps to warrant IDP consideration.
Robert Ayers (neck) is listed as questionable on the New York Giants ' Saturday injury report, Tom Rock of Newsday reports.
Added to the injury report Friday, Ayers remains questionable heading into Monday night's showdown with the Dolphins. Ayers will likely be a 50-50 call leading up to kickoff, but if he is unable to go, George Selvie would likely take over at left defensive end. Ayers' potential absence could inhibit the Giants' ability to take advantage of a Miami offensive line that has allowed the eighth-most sacks in the NFL this season.
