Bills' Leodis McKelvin: Important role following injury return
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Leodis McKelvin , who missed the first seven games of the season as he recovered from a broken ankle the previous season, ended up playing in nine games for the Buffalo Bills in 2015. He logged 32 tackles and two interceptions.

McKelvin didn't seem to miss a beat when he returned. Even though rookie Ronald Darby had taken over the No. 2 cornerback spot across from Stephon Gilmore by then - quite capably, mind you - McKelvin was an important midseason addition given that he was able to serve as a safety given all kinds of injuries to that group. McKelvin also started at cornerback once Gilmore was lost for the final four weeks with a shoulder injury. With Gilmore and Darby back for another season, McKelvin - assuming the Bills keep him and his high salary around - may have to serve as the versatile backup in 2016.

Bills' Leodis McKelvin: Should see starter's minutes
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Leodis McKelvin 's teammate Stephon Gilmore has been placed on injured reserve due to a shoulder injury.

That means McKelvin, who saw action on all 77 of the team's defensive snaps Sunday at Philadelphia, should finish the season as the starting cornerback opposite Ronald Darby. McKelvin put up five tackles and had his first interception of the season in the loss, and should be fairly productive the rest of the way now that he's healthy and has resumed a starting role.

Bills' Leodis McKelvin: More PT in store?
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

With Stephon Gilmore being ruled out of Sunday's game due to a shoulder injury, McKelvin is expected to take his place as the starting cornerback.

McKelvin, a cornerback his entire career, has been getting time at safety ever since he returned from injury in Week 9. While he sees the field often, he's also shared the free safety spot with Baccari Rambo and hasn't seen more than 47 defensive snaps yet. That number should go up this week, while the Eagles may even look his way with some regularity - not because he can't handle the spot but because the starter across from him, Ronald Darby, is having a fantastic rookie season.

Bills' Leodis McKelvin: Removed from injury report
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Leodis McKelvin (illness) practiced Saturday and was removed from the Buffalo Bills ' injury report.

This comes as no surprise, as McKelvin was just dealing with a minor illness during the week. He will add depth to the Bills' secondary Monday night against the Patriots.

Bills' Leodis McKelvin: Misses Thursday's practice
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

McKelvin missed Thursday's practice due to an illness.

We assume McKelvin will be fine for Monday's game in New England, and the extra day before playing certainly can't hurt. McKelvin is getting the most play at free safety since returning from an ankle injury in Week 9, yet he's not being used as a clear-cut starter either. McKelvin, who's carved out a decent career in Buffalo, is often remembered for blowing a potential major upset in New England several years ago when he made an ill-advised attempt to return a kick when the game was sealed, so perhaps he'll be able to do something this coming Monday to further erase that memory.
