| Wolfe headed for hearing: The Chicago Tribune reports that former Bears RB Garrett Wolfe has an arraignment hearing scheduled for June 21 in Miami. Wolfe is facing four charges stemming from his arrest May 22 at a nightclub in Miami Beach, Fla. He is charged with retail theft, disorderly conduct, assault of a police officer and resisting an officer with violence. If Wolfe can resolve his legal matter before free agency opens, that could aid him in finding a job. Some have speculated the arrest wiped him out of the Bears’ plans. However, the Bears gave a good indication they were ready to move on from the third-round draft pick in 2007 when they did not tender him an offer as a potential restricted free agent in February. While that doesn’t preclude them from pursuing him on the open market, it was a sign they weren’t making a move to protect him in the event he would be a restricted free agent. Now, Wolfe will be an unrestricted free agent. (Updated 06/14/2011) |

| Wolfe was second on the team with 18 special teams tackles last season and 12 solos. However, teams typically attempt to stock special teams with young players who can potentially be developed on the depth chart. The Bears never have made much of an effort to advance Wolfe’s career as a running back, and it’s likely they already had planned to move on. Ignore him in all leagues on Draft Day.
