Collins shows for Packers camp: Packers safety Nick Collins showed up for the team's mandatory minicamp, though he clearly doesn't consider his contract situation resolved. Collins said Monday that he was happy to be back after skipping all but one of the team's voluntary workouts and was committed to the team. He didn't want to talk about his contract, which runs through the end of this season. Asked if he would show up for training camp if the team didn't redo his deal, Collins said simply: "We'll see." Coach Mike McCarthy said Collins was in good physical shape and mentally ready to play.

Collins might be in line to lose his starting job as the Packers brought in safety Anthony Smith from Pittsburgh, and he's been great in helping the team adjust to the 3-4 defense. Until Collins is locked into a starting job, Fantasy owners should simply pass on him until the late rounds of IDP drafts this summer. When healthy and happy, he has the potential to be a No. 1 DB, but he could cost himself by not working out with the club all offseason long.

S Nick Collins is left to wonder whether a hefty bump in pay will be coming his way after the Packers gave Greg Jennings a three-year contract extension that could be worth as much as $30 million during the team's June 22-24 minicamp. Collins had his doubts about what the future holds for him. The Pro Bowl safety, who skipped most of the offseason workouts before showing up for the mandatory minicamp, left the door open for staging a holdout at the start of training camp to protest the absence of a new deal from the Packers. "We'll see," said Collins, when asked whether he would be in attendance for the first day of camp practices Aug. 1. "I'm not saying I'm not going to be here. Put it that way." Collins is one of 10 veteran Packers whose contracts will expire after the coming season. The fifth-year pro is seeking a lucrative extension on the heels of a breakout 2008 season. 62/5/2009
