Bengals' Brandon LaFell: Heavy work expected Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

LaFell (hand) is expected to get heavy work in Sunday's preseason game against Jacksonville.

LaFell needs to develop a rapport with quarterback Andy Dalton, and merely needs to get more reps period after missing the first two preseason games. He has fallen behind rookie Tyler Boyd in the battle to be the #2 wide receiver on the Bengals.

Bengals' Brandon LaFell: Back at practice Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

LaFell (hand) participated in practice on Sunday, Jim Owczarski of the Enquirer reports.

LaFell is dealing with ligament damage in his right hand, but expects to play through the injury for the time being. Coach Marvin Lewis indicated earlier in the week that it wouldn't cost LaFell any regular season action, so it appears he's not at risk of missing significant time. He was back at practice Sunday and barring any setbacks, he should continue to start opposite A.J. Green.

Bengals' Brandon LaFell: Expected to be a go for Week 1
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Though LaFell is reportedly dealing with ligament damage in his right hand, coach Marvin Lewis doesn't expect the wideout to miss the Bengals' regular season opener against the Jets.

Supporting that notion is a Cincinnati Enquirer report indicating that the "initial outlook is that LaFell will manage the injury without surgery." In any case, LaFell seems unlikely to play in Thursday night's preseason game against the Lions. Rookie Tyler Boyd and veteran Brandon Tate are the main candidates to see extra wideout reps when LaFell either sits out action or is limited at practice.

Bengals' Brandon LaFell: Not expected to miss Week 1 action
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Coach Marvin Lewis indicated Tuesday that he doesn't expect LaFell (right hand) to miss the Bengals' season opener.

Lewis' assertion arrives on the heels of a report that LaFell could potentially undergo a non-season-ending procedure to repair a ligament in his hand. There's also the possibility that LaFell could opt to approach the issue through rehab and play through his injury, but in any case, this is yet another hit to the Bengals' pass-catching corps, which bid adieu to Mohamed Sanu and Marvin Jones this offseason and is currently without the services of top tight end Tyler Eifert (PUP/ankle). Top candidates to see extra reps at wideout should LaFell miss any practice/preseason action are rookie Tyler Boyd and veteran Brandon Tate.

Bengals' Brandon LaFell: Has torn ligament in hand
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

LaFell has a torn ligament in his hand and may need surgery, Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports reports.

Although the procedure wouldn't be season-ending, it would presumably threaten LaFell's Week 1 availability. He may still be able to avoid surgery, which would be quite useful for a Cincinnati team that's already in danger of starting the season without TE Tyler Eifert (ankle). LaFell has been competing with second-round selection Tyler Boyd for a starting job, but the rookie may now have no choice but to step into an immediate leading role. LaFell isn't expected to play in Thursday's preseason game against the Lions, ESPN's Coley Harvey reports.
