| Wallace will wait to sign tender: Restricted free agent Mike Wallace really isn't a free agent anymore. Per the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, Wallace's chance to sign elsewhere expired in April, meaning that his only two options are to sign his one-year, $2.7 million tender with the Steelers, or hold out. According to ESPN, Wallace will wait to sign his tender until the last possible minute, which will likely be June 15. Per the CBA, the Steelers can drop the guaranteed value of the one-year tender to under $600,000 after June 15, which means Wallace would lose over $2 million by not signing. Wallace is unlikely to participate in offseason workouts with the team but would be a part of training camp if he signs by the June 15 deadline. The Steelers have said they'd like to sign him to a long-term deal. (Updated 05/17/2012) |

| Ultimately, it's fairly safe to expect him back in Pittsburgh, which is probably for the best. What would really be nice is if Wallace signed his tender and played in a contract year again, which could yield some really nice stats for Fantasy owners to enjoy as he plays his best to break the bank next spring. Wallace has back-to-back 1,200-total-yard seasons with at least eight scores in each year, so it's pretty clear that he's a capable NFL receiver. Let's see what happens next but go ahead and pencil Wallace into drafts between Rounds 3 and 4 as a No. 1 option. (Updated 05/17/2012). |
