Cushing is coming back from a torn knee ligament and a broken fibula. Head coach Bill O'Brien is unsure when exactly he'll return to practice. Nix has a meniscus injury he's dealing with. Williams was placed on IR before last season with an injury.
While he vowed to be ready for the season opener, Cushing would not put a timetable on his return to the practice field. "I know when it’s go-time, and I need to ramp it up and get on the field, I’ll be there," he told the team's website.
"I’m still working out every day," he added. "I’m just trying to be the best I can possibly be, come time for the camp. Come time for the season. The training staff’s done an unbelievable job."
Cushing has been unable to fully participate in OTAs thus far but has remained active with the team during the sessions.
"He's out there everyday and he's one of the leaders of our football team," O’Brien said.
