Buccaneers' Louis Murphy: Returns to practice
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Murphy (knee) returned to practice Monday, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Murphy was placed on the PUP list to start this season while still recovering from last October's torn ACL. However, with Monday marking the first day he's eligible to return to practice, Murphy was able to do just that, which is an encouraging sign for his future availability. While it's still unclear when Murphy can be expected to return to game action, the Buccaneers' receiving corps will surely welcome having Murphy back in practice.

Buccaneers' Louis Murphy: Placed on Reserve/PUP list Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Murphy (knee) was placed on the Reserve/PUP list Tuesday, Greg Auman of The Tampa Bay Times reports.

This was a rather obvious move for the Buccaneers. The team is relatively deep at the receiver position and realized that Murphy was not going to be ready for the start of the season. By shutting him down for the first six games of the season, Tampa Bay effectively adds flexibility to its roster moves from here on out. Murphy should be available for Week 7, but there's no guarantee the Bucs will even need the proven wideout given the team's stockpile of receivers.

Buccaneers' Louis Murphy: Placed on PUP list
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Murphy (torn ACL) will start training camp on the Active/PUP list, Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune reports.

Bouncing back from an ACL tear suffered in October, Murphy was previously expected to be ready for the start of training camp. He served as the team's No. 3 wideout prior to last year's injury, but even if he gets healthy soon, there's no shortage of competition for the job.

Buccaneers' Louis Murphy: Brings size and experience to third receiver competition
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Murphy's experience and size could be key in his battle for the slot receiver role in training camp, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.

The veteran receiver is expected to be ready to practice at the onset of training camp following his October 2015 ACL tear, and will jump into the midst of what should be the most hotly-contested position on the Bucs offense this summer. Murphy has played in the slot at various points in his career, with his most extensive tenure at that spot coming in 2012 with the Panthers. However, his 6-foot-2, 200-pound frame, normally a plus for receivers, may not be ideal for playing inside, and the Bucs could instead opt for the shiftiness that an Adam Humprhies or Donteea Dye would bring. The 29-year-old Murphy will need to hit the ground running come camp, considering the cast of thousands vying for the third receiver job.

Buccaneers' Louis Murphy: Faces competition for third receiver job this summer
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Murphy faces competition from multiple players for the third receiver spot in 2016, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.

The veteran wideout will enter his eighth season with a host of young hopefuls vying for his third receiver role. Murphy hauled in 10 receptions for 198 yards in 2015-- good for a career-high 19.8 yards per catch-- before a torn ACL ended his campaign in Week 6. He displayed some chemistry downfield with rookie quarterback Jameis Winston, recording receptions of 33 and 54 yards. With the Bucs reportedly looking to have their third pass-catcher also play on the outside from time to time in 2016, players like sophomores Donteaa Dye, Evan Spencer, and Kenny Bell could all make strong bids for the job with their speed.
