Patriots' Martellus Bennett: Quiet in Week 3 victory
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Bennett secured two of three targets for 10 yards and added six yards on one rush in Thursday's 27-0 victory over the Texans.

The veteran tight end was still involved despite Rob Gronkowski being active for the contest, but simply wasn't needed much on a night where the Patriots played it safe in the passing game and largely pummeled the Texans defense with LeGarrette Blount. Bennett has a modest eight catches on 11 targets over his first three games, but his involvement could increase in the coming weeks if New England opts to deploy more of the two-tight-end attack under Tom Brady that they've enjoyed great success with in seasons past.

Patriots' Martellus Bennett: Joined by Rob Gronkowski in Week 3 TE corps
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Bennett's teammate, fellow tight end Rob Gronkowski, is active for Thursday's contest against the Texans.

While it's unclear how much action Gronkowski will see in his return to action, his presence is a hit to Bennett's Week 3 fantasy upside. Bennett still figures to see his share of snaps in two-tight end sets, but rookie Jacoby Brissett starting at QB for the Patriots could involve a decent amount of blocking action on tap for Bennett.

Patriots' Martellus Bennett: Racks up 114 receiving yards and a TD
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Bennett caught five of six targets for 114 yards and a TD in Sunday's 31-24 win over the Dolphins.

Bennett's Week 3 fantasy prospects remain linked to the status of fellow TE Rob Gronkowski, whose availability for Thursday's contest against the Texans remains cloudy. Moreover, it looks like Jimmy Garoppolo's shoulder injury will result in rookie Jacoby Brissett starting at QB for the Patriots, which could well lead to a run-heavy game plan for the team in Week 3.

Patriots' Martellus Bennett: Catches three passes in Patriots debut
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

While playing all but two of the Patriots' 71 offensive snaps in Sunday's 23-21 win over the Cardinals, Bennett caught three of his five targets for 14 yards, ESPN's Mike Reiss reports.

With Rob Gronkowski out for the Patriots' season opener and Clay Harbor made inactive for the contest, Bennett was busy Sunday, as expected. His heavy workload didn't translate into much fantasy production, however, as the 6-foot-6, 273-pounder ended up focusing much of his attention on blocking in the contest. Given the Patriots' tendency to craft matchup-specific/week-to-week game plans, we suspect that there will be tilts going forward where Bennett puts up bigger stats, even when Gronkowski is also in the mix, but Week 1 hints that Bennett's fantasy utility could be somewhat hit or miss.

Patriots' Martellus Bennett: Added opportunities in Week 1
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

With Rob Gronkowski out for Sunday night's season opener against the Cardinals, Bennett figures to "be counted on heavily" by the Patriots in Week 1, ESPN's Mike Reiss reports.

In Gronkowski's absence, Bennett is a candidate to see his share of targets from QB Jimmy Garoppolo on Sunday, putting Bennett firmly on the Week 1 fantasy lineup radar. Also in the team's Week 1 tight mix are reserves Clay Harbor and A.J. Derby.
