Chase Coffman was released by the Titans on Saturday, Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean.
Coffman re-signed with the Titans earlier this week after being released by the team last week, but the team decided to remove him from the roster again in order to open up a spot for receiver Rico Richardson.
Chase Coffman agreed to a contract with the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Coffman will rejoin the Titans just a few days after being released by the team. While he is back on the active roster, he will continue playing a bit role for the Titans.
The Titans released Chase Coffman on Saturday, John Glennon of the Tennessean reports.
Coffman was only active one time in the Titans' first six games, recording four catches (on six targets) for 42 yards in Week 2 against the Browns. Because the Titans will be without Harry Douglas (ribs) on Sunday versus the Falcons, Coffman was the fall guy in order to sign practice-squad wide receiver Rico Richardson.
Chase Coffman (not injury related) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
Coffman seems to be healthy and available if needed, but because he's buried on the depth chart at tight end, he'll receive the inactive designation.
Tennessee elected to keep five tight ends on the roster to start the season. They are Walker, Coffman, Anthony Fasano, Craig Stevens and Phillip Supernaw. Coffman was the only tight end inactive for Sunday's season opener against the Bucs.
“I would say we would have to be in good shape. We have five tight ends on our roster,’’ Whisenhunt said, per the team's official website. “But it's good that we do have that option. I think that some of things that Delanie does well, Chase can fill that role if we need him to, which is good.”
Walker had three catches for 43 yards and one touchdown in a 42-14 win over the Bucs in Week 1.
