Impact of Owen Daniels' injury?
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com

Just as he seemed to be finding his way in the offense, Ravens tight end Owen Daniels has been sidelined surprisingly in Week 8 after undergoing an undisclosed knee procedure.

We loved Daniels' chances to find success Week 8 against the Bengals after hauling in six passes for 58 yards and a touchdown last week. Now he will miss at least one game, with his status moving forward unknown at this point. Fantasy owners in desperate need of a tight end for Week 8 might want to see if Charles Clay of the Dolphins or Jared Cook of the Rams is available right now.

Long-term, it is impossible to say just how this will impact Daniels. Coach John Harbaugh has not ruled him out for Week 9, but he might be limited even if he is able to return that quickly. Daniels isn't a must-drop Fantasy option, but he also isn't someone you absolutely have to have on your roster.

Still, Daniels was third on the team in targets, and that was with Dennis Pitta playing a huge role before his injury. If you have room on your roster, it might be worth hanging on to Daniels for one week to get a clearer picture.

Hitting the wire for tight ends
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com

With how up-and-down many tight ends have been this season, identifying the right ones on waivers can be a key. In his Week 8 waiver-wire column, Jamey Eisenberg tries to pin down the best ones for you to target this week.

Ravens tight end Owen Daniels, coming off a six-catch performance with a touchdown in Week 7, is the top pick for the 41 percent of CBSSports.com leagues in which he is available. A big reason why is a matchup against the Bengals, who have allowed four double-digit Fantasy scoring games by tight ends this season.

The remainder of the top five for the week is rounded out by Coby Fleener of the Colts (44 percent owned), Charles Clay of the Dolphins (34 percent), Jared Cook of the Rams (47 percent) and Kyle Rudolph of the Vikings (32 percent), who makes more sense as a stash option if you can afford the roster space.

Jared Cook held to 25 yards in upset win
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

Rams tight end Jared Cook, targeted 21 times in the previous two games, drew only three targets Week 7 against the Seahawks. He caught all three passes for 25 yards, marking his lowest output this season.

Cook visits the Chiefs in Week 8.

Jared Cook needs more owners
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer

Among the tight ends who have been active for all of their team's games this season, the leaders in targets per game are Jimmy Graham and Greg Olsen. Bet you'll never guess who's third.

Actually, it's not so tough. You're looking at him right now.

For the third straight game, Jared Cook set a season high in targets with 11 Week 6 against San Francisco, and this time, he got the yardage to back it up, going for 74 on four catches. It was just his second game with more than 60 yards, but he has a respectable 12.8 yards per catch.

The problem is his reception-to-target rate is low. Tight ends are usually targeted on underneath stuff, giving them a high conversion rate, but Cook seems to be an exception to the rule.

I say that evens out eventually. Cook has gotten at least eight targets in four of the Rams' first five games. Austin Davis clearly likes throwing him the ball. Sooner or later, he's going to capitalize.

He might even be a worthy short-term replacement for Graham owners. True, the Rams host the Seahawks in Week 7, but that's not as bad of a matchup as it seems. The Seahawks have allowed the third-most Fantasy points per game to tight ends this season.

Jared Cook draws 11 targets
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

Rams tight end Jared Cook drew a game-high 11 targets in the loss to the 49ers. He caught four passes for 74 yards, but hurt himself with a bad drop and was victimized by a very questionable offensive pass interference call.

The flag wiped out a long gainer late in the first half. Cook has drawn at least eight targets in four of five games entering Week 7 against the Seahawks.
